Inspired from an early age by icons including Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde and Joan Armatrading, E J Seal began making music at just 11 years old, after the death of her father. Part Bengali, part Londoner, EJ grew up in Camden Town with her mother, sister, and a still strong chosen family.
After fronting all-girl 3 piece The Daffs and playing the London scene, EJ formed Mash with 3 boys — recording and touring in the US before life took her in another direction.
A queer mother with a successful career behind her, EJ is now returning to her first love with her debut solo album.
She has found her voice again in every true sense of the meaning: bold, original and entirely on her own terms.
Unapologetic, distinctive and full of heart, EJ Seal is making music for her people — and everyone is welcome.
